ETH Zürich - HS 2022 - group work
Through an in-depth study of various established tent typologies, we curated a comprehensive compendium of techniques and expertise. Following this phase, our studio was divided into several groups, each with a specific role. One group focused on the textile shell, another worked with the ropes, while another handled coordination. Our group was responsible for prototyping and manufacturing all the timber components, including A-frames, outer poles, and pegs.
Over the course of 10 weeks, we developed multiple prototypes for each part, closely coordinating with the other groups to ensure seamless integration. Regular meetings and consultations allowed us to exchange ideas, tackle challenges, and optimize the overall design. This collaborative process not only enhanced the quality of our work, but also fostered a sense of shared accomplishment and camaraderie within the studio.
The combined efforts, innovation, and meticulous attention to detail from each group culminated in the final result – a practical and durable tent that provides a serene gathering space in nature for contemplation and exchange.
