I'm Deniz Örün
I'm Deniz Örün, born in 1997 in Zurich, Switzerland, and completed my diploma at Jan DeVylder's chair at ETH Zurich. My journey as an architect has been driven by a deep passion for addressing social issues within the built and unbuilt environment. Early on, I recognized the significant impact architecture can have on communities and became committed to prioritizing social sustainability and accessibility in my work.
Throughout my studies, I've been vocal about expanding the conversation around architecture to include considerations of social equity and inclusivity. My approach to architecture is shaped by a desire to explore innovative solutions that prioritize the well-being of all individuals within society.
One aspect that sets my work apart is my willingness to utilize diverse media, particularly video, to convey my ideas and research. By embracing audiovisual tools, I aim to make architectural concepts more accessible and engaging to a wider audience.
During my internships, I sharpened my ability to tackle complex issues within tight deadlines. These experiences provided me with valuable skills in project management and prioritization that I bring to my architectural practice.
In addition to my architectural pursuits, I've been actively involved in various cultural publications and media initiatives. Working with the SRF social media team and contributing to publications like "BreauxZine 39/12" has allowed me to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. This pushed me to be proactive myself and pursuing artistic works as well as organizing events, further expanding my influences beyond the field of the classical understanding of architecture.
I remain committed to pushing the boundaries of architecture and advocating for social sustainability. Through my interdisciplinary approach and unwavering dedication, I aim to make a meaningful impact on both the field of architecture and society as a whole.
